It’s been a busy month for Girl Scouts River Valleys (and me). Last week was our Women of Distinction luncheon, which was SPECTACULAR. Goosebump city. I think sometimes we forget the impact our work has and it takes events like this one to remind us that what we do matters. It was so inspiring to hear from alums about how Girl Scouts changed their lives and what difference troop leaders have made in their lives.
And I don’t think our leaders and volunteers hear that message enough—what you’re doing isn’t just nice and fun, it’s life-changing and hugely important. You are providing girls with the experiences and environment to help them grow into healthy, confident, AMAZING women.
So I hope you realize, whilst coordinating field trips, transporting cookies, leading meetings, and sewing on badges, that you are making a difference. You are building girls of courage, confidence, and character that make the world a better place. I would love to call up each and every one of you fabulous volunteers (around 17,000, I believe), take you out for a cup of coffee, and tell you how much I appreciate the work that you are doing, because without you there would be no Girl Scouts.
For today, I bring you this simple video as a token of our appreciation at Girl Scouts River Valleys.
Please know that you are a precious resource and your investment of time, energy, and heart means the world to us and the girls you serve. From all of us at River Valleys, thank you.
