Statement of Why:
Girl Scouts River Valleys wants girls to use social media and the internet safely, and to gain skills in digital sales and marketing. The Cookie Program and Fall Product Sale are opportunities for girls to practice and use digital sales and marketing skills.
Policy Statement
Girl Scouts and parents/caregivers who use digital sales and social media to market their Cookie Program and/or Fall Product Program must read and follow Girl Scouts of the USA’s online sales and marketing rules.
Standards
- Before conducting any online Cookie Program or Fall Product Sale activities, girls must read and sign the Girl Scout Internet Safety Pledge and the Girl Scout Digital Cookie Pledge.
- Girl Scouts, and parents/caregivers of Girl Scouts who are under 13 years old, must also review and follow the Supplemental Safety Tips for Online Marketing, the Computer and Internet Use Safety Activity Checkpoints, and the Cookie and Product Sales Safety Activity Checkpoints.
- Girl Scouts River Valleys may ask parents/caregivers to delete marketing posts that do not follow Girl Scouts of the USA’s rules for digital sales and social media.
