Service unit volunteers can use the following step-by-step instructions to manage their volunteer roles and membership.
To renew your position for the upcoming Girl Scout year, log in to Members.GirlScouts.org. Your username is the email where you receive your Girl Scout communications. If you have trouble logging in, use the “Forgot Your Password” link. You can contact us online or call 800-845-0787 for further assistance logging in, if necessary.
Please use a desktop/laptop computer to complete your renewal. Viewing on a mobile device may cause issues.
Renewing a Service Unit Role You Already Hold- Once have logged into the Member Community, toggle your view on the home page to “Next Year” using the drop-down menu on the far-right.
- Then, for each of your roles and/or family members, select the appropriate choice from the drop-down menus.
- Choose “Renew Now” for the memberships and roles you would like to continue with.
- Choose “Don’t Renew – Cancel” for memberships and roles you would like to remove.
- Choose “Renew Later” if you aren’t ready to commit now, but may decide to return to later.
- Click “Continue.”
- On the next page, you will be asked to accept the Girl Scout Promise and Law. To accept, check “Continue”.
- Check “Request Aid” if you would like to request financial assistance for membership dues.
- You will also have the option to upgrade to a lifetime membership. Next, you will complete payment for your 2019-2020 membership dues.
- On the next page, you will confirm your payment information.
- You will be brought to a “Thank You!” page after renewal is complete.
Process Following Renewal
- If you do not have a background check, or if yours is expired, you will be directed to our background check process. Complete your check as soon as possible so we can confirm your role. Please contact us if your encounter any issues.
- After your membership is complete and your background check is returned, if applicable–our staff will email you a link to complete the Service Unit Position Agreement form.
It is important to renew your membership for 2021 BEFORE adding your new service unit role. These instructions walk you through the regular renewal process, then explain adding a new role.

- Now that you have completed renewal, click on “Membership” tab at the top, far-left to start adding a new role.
- Next, select “Next Year” from the top, far-right drop-down menu.
- Click “Add Role” beneath your name.
- After adding your role and clicking “Continue”, you will be brought to the role catalog, where you will search for your new role.
- If you search by service unit number (example: “SU142”), you will see all roles in your service unit. This is an easy way to find your role. If you don’t know your number, see our service unit directory.
- If you search for the role title (example: “Troop Mentor”), you will see that role in all service units. You may need to scroll to find the role in your service unit.
- Check the box next to the role(s) you would like to add. Then, click “Next”.

Process Following Renewal and Addition of Roles

- New service unit managers will be invited to an interview.
- For all other roles and returning service unit managers, you will be emailed a link to complete online training and to complete the Service Unit Position Agreement form.
- After training and screening are complete, our staff will appoint qualified volunteers into their role.
Renewing Roles Already Held

- If you are renewing annual memberships for other household members, you will be brought to a payment screen for their dues. Once you reach the “Thank You!” page, you can navigate back to the beginning by clicking the “Membership” tab near the top-left of the page. If you are only renewing yourself, you will automatically be brought back to the “Membership” tab. From here, you can start adding your new role(s).
Adding a New Role

- If you need to pay annual dues for any household members, you will be brought through payment screens. From the “Thank You!” page, click the top-left “Membership” tab. If you are only renewing yourself, you will automatically be brought back to the “Membership” tab. From here, you can start adding your new role(s).
- From the “Membership” tab, click “Next Year” from the far-right drop-down menu.
- Next, click on “New Role” beneath your name.
- Click “Continue.”
- After adding your role and clicking “Continue,” you will be brought to the role catalog, where you will search for your new role.

- Once you have finished, you will be returned to the “Membership” tab. Here, you should see that your new role(s) read as “In Progress.”
