At Big River Farms, children and families can learn about basic sustainable agriculture practices and have the opportunity to interact with real farmers. Programs are scheduled on a per-troop basis from May through September, and every program consists of three to four lessons (approximately 2 hours total), each addressing a new topic with a fun, hands-on approach. Kids will learn about soil health, vegetable anatomy, and animals in farm systems, and will meet real farmers. Troops earning their Gardener badge will be able to complete most requirements. Troops earning other badges such as Animal Habitats, Flowers, and Bugs can address some badge requirements upon request before the program.
The program fee is $5 per person. If cost is a barrier, please contact the farm to discuss options.
