This course is designed for those who are familiar with basic paddling strokes but need a refresher on how to best use those strokes effectively. It will also include an emphasis on solo stern paddling. Individual feedback and helpful tips will be provided. For those interested in working towards the Small Craft Safety Certification, this class offers the opportunity to practice the skills need to pass the pre-test to take the course. Stay until 6:30 and take the canoe pre-test for the Small Craft Safety Certification for Canoeing.
Prerequisite: Canoeing experience
Included: Book “Introduction to Paddling: Canoeing Basics for Lakes and Rivers”
Please note: A person with Small Craft Safety Certification is required when leading canoeing activities with Girl Scouts. You do not receive certification by completing Lake Canoeing Skills, but will gain skills to assist in activities.
