Have you heard about Destinations yet? Girl Scout Destinations are the ultimate adventure for individual Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scouts. Girl Scouts push past their comfort zone by applying for a trip on their own and make friends from all over the country as they travel with other Girl Scouts. There’s a unique, life-changing experience for everyone. Hear from Girl Scout Senior, Illyana, why she loved her Destination experience at Space Camp in Alabama!
“I have always been in love with space and looking at the stars is one of my favorite things to do. When I heard about a camp all about space, I couldn’t wait to go. Then, I found out about the application process. I was so scared to apply. What if I didn’t get in? Finally, after thinking about it for a long time, I decided to try. Lucky me, I got in! I jumped at the chance and I am so happy I did.
At camp, I met girls from all over the country and from other countries. We all shared a love of space though. I’ve never been around so many other girls who love space as much as me! Throughout the week, I learned about women’s roles in space exploration. I developed my teamwork skills and my leadership skills. I even learned to take failure and learn from it when my group crashed and burned in a space flight simulation! I am so thankful for this experience and hope to go back for another camp soon!”
Through the Destinations program, Girl Scouts learn about problem-solving, teamwork, and develop their leadership skills. They get the chance to connect with Girl Scouts with similar passions and take risks in a supportive environment. Do you know a Girl Scout who would love this experience?
