Welcome
Welcome to the first edition of The Cookie Press for Service Units! Thank you for serving in this important role as the Cookie Program supporter and champion for Girl Scouts and volunteers in your area. Each week, we are here to pass along program updates and give you those “just in time” reminders to keep you on track. Starting next week, we’ll include the troop edition of The Cookie Press for all troop leaders and troop cookie managers. Cookie Central will once again be your hub for all things Girl Scout Cookies. We continue to update Cookie Central as we get closer and closer to Cookie Go Day. Thank you for sharing your time and talent to help equip troops with the guidance they need to be prepared for the upcoming season
Virtual Service Unit Cookie Training
We kick off our Virtual Service Unit Cookie Training sessions via Zoom this Saturday. We are excited to see you and review the highlights of the season along with the important details of your duties as a Service Unit cookie volunteer. An email to register for these training sessions was sent to all Service Unit cookie volunteers earlier this month. If you didn’t receive it, contact us. You may register anytime before the event starts. If you are unable to attend one of these sessions, our online Service Unit Cookie Manager training will be available on Cookie Central the week of December 12. Remember that you must have attended a virtual training session or completed the online training as a part of your Service Unit level role. Plus, one of the requirements to earn Service Unit cookie proceeds is to have at least one Service Unit volunteer complete cookie training by February 1.
If you are a new Service Unit cookie volunteer, we highly encourage you to view our Service Unit Cookie Basics Video before attending the virtual training session. This quick video will give you added insight into your role and responsibilities as a Service Unit level cookie volunteer.
Cookie Rally Orders are Due by December 21
If your Service Unit is planning a Cookie Rally, it’s time to order cookies. You may request a sample reward kit, available while supplies last. All orders are due by December 21. No late orders will be accepted. Orders will ship the week of January 16.
Check out ABC Baker’s Cookie Rally Guide (PDF) for inspiration on how to host your rally, and make it a fin-tastic event for the Girl Scouts and troops in your Service Unit.
Service Unit Notebook Request
Last week, Girl Scouts River Valleys shipped a cookie notebook gift set to all Service Unit managers and Service Unit cookie managers who were registered in this volunteer role by November 1. The gift set includes that included the Service Unit Cookie Notebook, pen, and card holder for your phone. If you did not receive a gift set, you can request one by emailing girlscouts@girlscoutsrv.org. The Service Unit Notebook will also be available through Cookie Central.
The rest of the printed cookie materials and supplies for troops and Girl Scouts will ship the week of December 26.
Service Unit Initial Order Delivery Assignments
As the Service Unit cookie manager, you’ll share with your troops the Service Unit’s assignment for the type of cupboard and delivery. Refer to the 2023 Service Unit Initial Order Delivery Assignments to view the assignment and share this information with your troops either now or at your troop training.
